Wedding at Barkisland

I had the pleasure of Face Painting at a Wedding Reception last night. It was fun to do so many sparkly eye designs like the one below which proved a big hit.

It’s hard to appreciate just how glittery these look in real life but they are so beautiful.

I had been placed (by the bar staff) in quite a dark bar which was a little challenging for me but I think everyone was happy with my designs.

Outdoor Events

Are you planning on hosting an Outdoor Event this year? Maybe you just want to host a birthday gathering outside or perhaps you are responsible for a small festival or fundraiser. Whatever the situation, there is a lot more to consider than you may think! I recently wrote a post about it on my Facebook Page. Find it here and other posts too.

Hope you find these tips useful. If you do, don’t forget to like my page.

Spring is in the Air!

February isn’t my busiest time of year, I’ll admit but hey- we’re nearly in Match now so BRING ON SPRING!

Whenever I paint flowers,I always want to do roses as I love the way they look so complex. Still, not wanting to be a one trick pony, I was determined to push myself out of my comfort zone.

With the rose ban firmly in force,  I ended up going for blue foxgloves.  I’m quite proud of them. What do you think?

Then I thought I’d play around some more with floral ideas.

I have plenty of Spring bookings coming up in Calderdale, so can’t wait for a chance to use some of these cute designs soon.

Party at Upsy Daisys

I have done quite a few parties at Upsy Daisys in Mytholmroyd and know the venue well, having a little boy myself. This time it was a little girl’s 4th birthday.

There was no theme but my neon butterfly design was very popular.

I also got the chance to paint some pretty flowers on one of the mums.

The mother of the birthday girl was very happy and posted me a fantastic 5 star review on Facebook. Click here to see it.

Safari theme

My first gig of the year came on 2nd January in Ripponden. My brief was a “Safari theme”.

After all the Christmas designs, it was a pleasant change and fired my imagination.

Here are a couple from my personalised design board.

Usually I print the design board out for clients but because it had been Christmas and New Year, unfortunately I couldn’t find a printers open. Still, I loaded all the ideas on to a tablet so they could be viewed.

The faces were very popular, although afew old favourites like butterflies did sneak in.

Hope everyone has a happy and creative 2017.

Festive fun in Calderdale

I’ve had a busy weekend promoting Christmas events in Calderdale. On Friday, a face painting friend and I painted at the Christmas Light Switch On in Elland. It was a lovely atmosphere with a children’s choir, really added to the excitement.img_20161204_205129

Then on Saturday I was off to Sowerby Bridge to do the “Up and Down T’street” which was aimed at bringing trade to the town and encouraging people to shop local.img_20161204_204831

A birthday party on Sunday rounded off the weekend. It was nice to do regular designs like Tigers  instead of the Christmas ones I’d been doing so frequently.

That’s all for now. Have a fab Christmas and New Year, Face Acers.peace1

First Video!

It’s a busy few weekends for Face Ace – as well as the usual parties, I have Christmas Fayres and Light Switch on events ahead. I have no free day time slots until after Christmas now.

I wanted to take my Christmas designs to the next level so loved working on this piece below.2016-11-24_22-22-25

I adore all the reds and greens – so vibrant. It’s based on work by Sarah Janakowic – a well known face painter  She loves painting flowers, as I do It was nice to have an opportunity to wear full make up too -something I rarely do.2016-11-24_22-27-23

I made my first video as a result. I’m not exactly Lisa Joy Young yet (a well known YouTuber) but I’m fairly happy with how it turned out. I think video editing is my next skill to conquer as I need to master all the zooming in, trimming it etc.

Click here to see how it turned out. It’s on my facebook page.

As always, let me know what you think.peace1

Christmas Designs

I have lots of pre Christmas gigs coming up over the next few weeks so am spending time practising festive faces.

It’s all about getting the balance right between something that looks professional yet can be recreated in a hurry when the queues are long.

The good thing about Christmas is there is no better time to apply masses of glitter.

Hopefully I’ll be adding some sparkle to an event near you Catch me at the following places

See you all soon.peace1

Bonfire at The Malthouse

I painted at a fun day for The Malthouse in Rishworth for a fun day back in summer so was delighted to be asked back last night to add some face painting fun to their Bonfire party.

It was a lovely atmosphere – Toffee Apples and real Yorkshire Parkin for sale, a kids disco, Bonfire and fabulous firework display.

The staff were rushed off their feet and worked incredibly hard but it was a very successful evening. I painted Butterflies, Tigers and Cheetahs as well as the kids below.img_20161104_204913

I really enjoyed it and got to see a few sneaky fireworks from the window too. Happy November 5th everyone!peace1

Free-hand Red Lace Mask

I love looking at the face painting groups on the internet, I learn so much that way and it’s a really good incentive to push out of my comfort zone. When I saw recently that a fellow painter had done a fantastic black lace mask, I decided I would have a go too, but in red.

img_20161104_093918I had never done anything as intricate as this without stencils and was very happy how it turned out.

It’s little things like knowing which red is the most vibrant that make it stand out. I have to say I am in love with this mask.  Isn’t it perfect for that special costume party, glam Halloween look or even Valentines day?

Sadly, I had no such occasion to wear it for, so sadly it all got washed off quite quickly. Still, I enjoyed feeling pretty for 10 minutes or so!img_20161029_192100

Work like this can take up to an hour because of the fine detail.  I am sure you will agree it was a real showstopper.

I welcome your thoughts.
