It was a lively atmosphere with plenty to do for the kids – little stalls where they could win something, roundabouts and face painting of course! It also attracted lots of adults thanks to all the local bands playing.

On Saturday, I painted at an event called “All about Elland”. The idea was to get people back into Elland after the floods last Christmas. This resonated with me because I was flooded myself back in 2012.
I admit, I don’t know Elland that well. I have spent time in the council Ainleys Highways depot there. I also remember a good sandwich shop and a couple of nice play gyms.
So on Saturday it was good to meet some of the locals. I met some kind shopkeepers and stall holders – a friendly florist let me use her loo!
I always love it when I get an adult who is game for a laugh, like the lady below.
What fun to transform her into a sparkly tiger!

Last week I face painted at an event in Cragg Vale to raise money for my child’s school. At the end of the month I am taking part in another charity event. I will be in Halifax face painting at “Shantstock” at The Shant pub where some of my earnings go to a charitable cause.
It’s fantastic to be able to give back to causes I care about and the area I love so much.
I was flooded afew years ago when my boy was just a baby. It was a devastating time for us but the people in my neighbourhood were amazing. Everyone rallied around to help my family.
I wish I could do more charity stuff but unfortunately, like everyone else. I have bills to pay and if there was no paid work, Face Ace would fold and the charity gigs would have to go too because I would have no kit!
I do what I can when I can – as do so many others. I am so proud to give back to our wonderful, strong community.
I was at an event yesterday where another painter was also working.
As I looked at the painted kids coming past me, it made me contemplate what makes Face Ace different to other local painters.
One of our main selling points I think, is the use of vivid colour and quality paint. We’ve all seen those drab little palettes with five or six colours. Even worse are those crayon type face paints that you would have to practically drag across a kids’ face to make as much of a mark.
Having your face decorated should be a celebratory experience with as much decadence as possible, in my opinion.
I want my customers to feel pampered and special, not like they are at the dentist.
I say, splash on the bold rainbow colours, pour on the glitter, big up the bling.
