We have been having some fabulous weather recently (touch wood!) and yesterday I had the pleasure of painting in not one but two lovely gardens!
First of all, I was painting in Greetland. Its a stunning area of #Calderdale and it is always a pleasure to visit. I took my son camping there a couple of years ago and I adore the woodland and open spaces. It was an eight year old girl’s birthday party.
Eight year olds are sooooo sophisticated these days; apart from myself activities included getting their nails done and a very civilised looking picnic! Oh – and for anyone who missed the memo (like me!) “The Greatest Showman” is THE movie of the moment!
Next up was Mytholmroyd – up by #ScoutRoadSchool. Again in the garden. Magnificent views once again.Younger children at this celebration and all but one, wanted to be a flower fairy.
No photos but they all looked so cute. Woke up this morning to two fantastic reviews from both customers.
It was wonderful to not have to forfeit the lovely weather in order to go to work. Love my job!
What a strange old week it’s been! The weirdness began when a face painting buddy – Colette of #Funkyfaces in Huddersfield – told me i was on the cover of a Facebook face paint group. Not exactly Vogue but it is a group well known to Face Painters. I had to have a look!
Yes, there I am larger than life in the top right hand corner! I think it’s gone now because they change the cover alot.
What happened next was not connected but things got a lot more surreal.
I am always trying to think of new ideas for my business posts on Facebook. After all, it can get boring looking at the same old stuff on a newsfeed. I had an idea to write a poem. I wasn’t sure if it was a bit twee but with nothing to lose, I gave it a shot. Here is a link to the original post on Facebook.
Well, I was soooooo unprepared for what happened next. It went viral, particularly amongst the Face painting community. My little poem had loads of comments, likes and 61 shares (as I write this).
Neatly 9,000 people saw my poem all over the world. How cool is that? 61 shares was the official share number but I saw it cut n pasted on other people’s pages too. Then a woman called Tammy Rosecrans put this artwork with it too.
I think it must have resonated with fellow face painters. I kept getting people telling me how much they liked it that in the end i made a video to say thank you
I love the fact I was famous for five minutes in Face Painter land!
